Message from the Supervisor of the Department
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, and may blessings and peace be upon the most Honorable of the Prophets and Messengers, our Master and Prophet Muhammad, and upon all his family and companions.
First of all, I extend my sincere greetings to all employees of the Northern Border University, and in particular, the employees of the Deanship of the Preparatory Year and Supportive Studies, and I wish the best for all.
The Department of Computer is one of the most important four departments in the Preparatory Year and Supportive Studies, due to its pioneering role and its great interest in keeping pace with the rapid development in the fields of computer science and information technology. Its role lies in the development of the study materials and study plans. That is to say, all courses are reviewed periodically to contend with the development in the field of computer science/engineering and information technology. Therefore, this helps to qualify students of the preparatory year academically and practically with high efficiency in the field of computer application skills. It also helps students of the College of Engineering to know the basic skills of programming - for example analysis, design and software development.
The academic program in the Department of Computer aims at providing all the facilities that help the students master the skills of computer applications by offering an educational environment well equipped with laboratories. In all the branches of the university, the computer labs are equipped with the latest devices and the most current versions of operating software as well as various applications.
Moreover, the department's role was not restricted to just preparing and developing students, but also training the faculty members in the Deanship through the department's support for the e-learning management system (Blackboard) in coordination with the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Learning. All these show the efforts of the department in order to develop the culture of e-learning. This is what is happening not only in our university, but also in all the universities in Saudi Arabia.
In the end, it's Allah's grace, support, and encouragement that the Computer Department is granted by authorities in the Northern Border University and, in particular, the Deanship of the Preparatory Year and Supportive Studies.
On my behalf and all members of the Computer Department, thanks and appreciation to all.
Supervisor of Computer Science Department
Mr. Faroug Ali Hassan Abdalla
